Illiana + Carlos

Illiana’s sister, Julie, wanted to surprise the bride and groom with a photographer to document their elopement, on October 9th. Illiana and Carlos were married on the pier near the Watkins Harbor Hotel in Watkins Glen, NY. Jon Reis took the photographs and Amy Porter did the digital treatment shown here, a dramatic mix of black-and-white with color. Good work, Jon and Amy!

Front Page : The Ithaca Journal

Vertical Access is an architectural inspection company specializing in extreme locations, inspecting some pretty extreme buildings. The company has hired Jon Reis on several occasions to photograph their acrobatic climbs, from nearby high-rises and from the air, on sites in New York City, Philadelphia, and Albany. On October 1, 2009, Jon’s photo made the front page in an article about Vertical Access in the Ithaca Journal.
Shown here are Stardust Atkeson, top, Kelly Streeter, left and Michael Gilbert, lower right, on a condition survey of the towers, spires and West Front gable of St Patrick’s Cathedral, on Fifth Avenue in Manhattan.
Good work, Jon!

Jon Reis to Exhibit Art Photos

The show opens September 3, 2009, and runs through September 26.

For the first time ever, Jon Reis and Dede Hatch are exhibiting their work together. “Nobody ever asked!” is the response to the question “What took you so long?”

Hatch and Reis have both been working as photographers in Ithaca for well over 25 years. What some people don’t know is that for 21 of those 25 years, they have been married to each other. They have for the most part kept their work lives separate, but when they travel they are often side by side taking photographs of the same subjects. This might seem a logical starting point for a show but it just hasn’t happened, until now.
